You Can Jump Higher By Training Less

Are you serious about your vertical leap training?

The vertical jump is an explosion caused by the sudden contraction of fast twitch muscle fibers.  Because of this, vertical jump training is”anaerobic.”  Too many athletes are training in a way that [develops.

How is training different for the two?

Basketball players have been told that long distance running would increase their vertical. That is huge misconception. Running long distances like that can cause your vertical jump to shrink.

These are not examples of training explosively, so they are NOT going to be able to improve explosive actions. I assure you, they will not be satisfied. You have to train for explosion and not endurance to increase your vertical leap.

“Explosive”training will not feel right at first.  You won’t get the same burn as training aerobically.  In a few ways training explosion is easier, it just requires a good deal more focus and short term energy.
